  • The Missing Conversation: Intimacy, Identity and Occupational Therapy
    Thursday 7th May 2026
    09:30am - 12:30pm
    Online Webinar Format
£60 + VAT  - Use code INTIMACYEARLYBIRD to save £10 before 1st February.

Intimacy is an essential yet often overlooked aspect of Occupational Therapy, despite its significant influence on rehabilitation, wellbeing, and quality of life. This training creates a supportive space for OTs to explore the emotional, physical, and sexual dimensions of intimacy and understand why they matter.

Drawing on specialist experience in sex and relationship therapy, Sue covers how to introduce intimacy within assessments, use appropriate and inclusive language, and recognise when referral to other professionals is needed.

Through practical strategies, case studies, and reflective exercises, attendees will build confidence in supporting individuals and couples with their intimacy needs as part of holistic, person‑centred care.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Strengthen confidence in initiating and managing conversations about intimacy within OT practice.
    • Identify personal, cultural, and professional barriers to including intimacy in assessment and intervention.
    • Understand the role of intimacy in rehabilitation, recovery, and long‑term wellbeing.
    • Explore the different forms intimacy can take and how they may present in clinical contexts.
    • Learn how to sensitively introduce intimacy‑related questions using appropriate, inclusive language.
    • Recognise suitable referral pathways when specialist support is required.
    • Develop practical approaches for supporting clients’ intimacy needs, both individually and as couples.
    • Apply learning through guided exercises and case studies to build real‑world confidence

Ideal for: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Case managers.
